Your first Visit
On the first visit, we conduct our comprehensive and unique chiropractic assessment, designed specifically to arrive at a clear root-cause diagnosis. There is a dedicated digital x-ray machine in both clinics, which we use to take structural x-rays if clinically required. Fundamentally, we are checking for structural, postural, mechanical, and neurological imbalances.
Range of motion and mobility are also assessed to get a snapshot of where you are. The medical history, in conjunction with all other measurements and images, supports our chiropractors in making a root-cause diagnosis. You can see an outline of the steps involved on our Initial Assessment page.
After the diagnosis has been established, we discuss the findings in detail and formulate the most effective personalised treatment.
Why it matters: Alignment vs Misalignment
Structure and function are very closely related to each other. A wheel with the spokes structurally unbalanced (some tight, some loose) will curve and twist the wheel. Such a wheel goes off-course and is unsafe to use. When we go outside of our natural healthy range, which can be measured, the body’s performance and ability to express health diminish.
This unhealthy range may lead to swaying and other balance & coordination issues, aches and pains, loss of mobility and range of motion, overly tight muscles and tendons and friction points in the joints, to name a few.
The central nervous system runs through the structure of the spinal column to power up the muscles, organs and systems. Structural imbalances impact the nerves by creating pressure, either from tight muscles or joints that are not in their optimum position. This disrupts communication between the brain and body and may manifest as neurological disfunction such as loss of strength, pins and needles, numbness, referred pain, lack of control over the body, brain fog, stiffness, and unusual tactile and sensory experiences.
Structural imbalances, therefore, can lead to functional imbalances and sub-optimal communication between the brain and body.
